Providing Evidence of Student Learning:
A Transparency Framework

Framework in the Field

Some institutions have contacted NILOA to use the NILOA Transparency Framework on their websites. Here are examples of institutions using the Framework on its website by most recent submission:

Point Loma Nazarene University

Point Loma Nazarene University

The NILOA Transparency Framework was introduced at the academic level as a means to highlight assessment work and has proven to hold many benefits for Point Loma Nazarene University including: increasing faculty ownership when telling the assessment story that is unique to their department, promoting the exchange of best practices among faculty, increasing accountability and engaging students. "The intent was to use the wheel to create a campus wide shift in culture from compliance driven to reflection and continuous improvement. We are very excited about the way transparency has changed the conversation on campus and how it is helping other departments. The NILOA Transparency Framework has had a significant impact on how faculty view assessment.

As with many institutions, information about assessment activities at IUPUI are spread across numerous campus, school, and department web sites. NILOA’s Transparency Framework is an excellent way to organize assessment information, and we are starting to use it to communicate our assessment plans
and activities.
